bars

Newton Bar

Dedicated to Berlin born photographer Helmut Newton, this popular hotspot is the perfect place for a drink. Hang out in the stylish inside bar whilst admiring the wall of Newtown’s naked supermodels or take your cocktail outside, kick back on a comfy pavement lounge and observe the crowd making their way through the hip Mitte streets.

Solar

For a spectacular view of Berlin, and a superb cocktail to match, look no further than Solar. You may be suspicious upon your arrival to a random apartment block, but once you reach the 17th floor via the glass lift, you will be transported to a different world, and invited to view Berlin in all its grandeur. Take the experience to a higher level by climbing a few stairs to the upstairs lounge and sliding into the panoramic comforts of a white leather hammock suspended by steel cables.

Universum Lounge

It is not surprising that you may feel like a movie star at Universum Lounge as it is located in the famed 1920s Bauhaus Universum Cinema. The space age design is eclectic with a retro-futuristic feel and the glistening gold walls evoke images of a lunar landscape.

what we think

After a tumultuous past, this vibrant capital has reclaimed its cool. Don’t be deterred by the crumbling façade of some parts of the city as some of the world’s most progressive and exciting architecture can easily be found. The neighbourhoods are eclectic and it’s not uncommon to see graffiti covered buildings missing walls adjacent to a slick modern development. Maybe it’s an anti-grunge backlash, but in the last few years Berlin designers have been stamping their mark on the city, and everything from the boutiques to the cafes, restaurants, bars and underground clubs are cutting edge and radically cool.
