Less is more ... rather than overwhelming you with volumes of travel tips, here is a specific list of exclusive recommendations with Mr & Mrs Crystal's stamp of approval.

bars

Bar Ingocnito

This split level bar caters for the hipsters who want to boogie on the downstairs dancefloor, or for those who prefer to chatter and flirt in the loft bar upstairs. The DJ’s tunes are buzzy and fun, but not too overbearing so as to drown out your banter at the bar.

Bedroom

Leave your pyjamas at the hotel and dress up for a night out at Bedroom. Decorated with beds and comfy couches with dim lighting to maximise the mood, this Barrio Alto bar is anything but sleepy. The upbeat music lifts the tempo and the atmosphere exudes cosmo-chic. This is definitely one of Lisbon’s hippest bars.

Cinco Lounge

It’s no secret – if you want to enjoy the city’s best cocktails in the coolest bar, head to Cinco Lounge. Peruse the list of 100 innovative cocktails feeling spoilt for choice, and spoil yourself even more by ordering a cocktail topped with Dom Perignon. The crowd is trendy and the bar is sophisticated yet relaxed. Cinco is hot at the moment.

Lux

Lux is undoubtedly one of Lisbon’s coolest hangouts. It boasts a tasteful jumble of interconnected rooms and an impressive terrace. The rooms have chillout areas with loungey sofas and offbeat furniture but the ambience is always energetic. The upstairs bar is the place to go for a social drink, groovy tunes and glitz and glamour while the downstairs dancefloor is designed for a serious boogie. This nightclub is hot.

what we think

Fall into the rhythm of Lisbon, a coastal gem which oozes character. Its laidback nightlife, much of it outdoors in summer, is one of its most engaging attractions. Even when the narrow streets are full of people enjoying the countless cafes and bars that appear to never close, the atmosphere remains chilled. Consistent with the city’s quirky vibe, it is not uncommon to see DJ’s spinning decks in fashion shops or clothes sold in bars. When the shops close for lunch, it is a perfect time to enjoy the views across the Tagus river from one of the many hilltops or ride through the city’s diverse neighbourhoods on a quaint old fashioned tram. Lisbon is humble and unassuming, and at the same time is charming and beautiful.
