bars

Kingly Club

This exclusive Soho members club is an intimate space but its inspiring interiors are sizeably impressive. Salt-water aquariums, designer bathrooms and an elegant glass bar make this one sleek and stylish night time haunt. Funky clubbers come to enjoy vintage champagne and great music. There’s no designated dancefloor but when the DJ plays the favourite tunes the entire room of pretty things gyrate to the beat. It’s officially regal. Party like a king at Kingly.

Mahiki

Step down into Mahiki on Dover Street for a Polynesian paradise and your wildest hula fantasy. This bi-level cocktail lounge is a Hawaiian world of tropical cocktails and a revelling party scene. The absolute highlight on the cocktail menu is the Treasure Chest – a mixture of spirits topped with a bottle of Moet & Chandon, served in a real treasure chest with straws to share with your fellow party animals. At ₤100 each, this treasure is more like a short term investment. Mahiki is a magnet for royals and celebrities alike and you may even end up dancing with Prince Harry! Pose for the paparazzi on your way out.

Movida

Lavishly designed bar and nightclub, Movida is a basement beauty where frisky kittens preen and gorgeous lads strut their stuff. Built within the vaults of the London Palladium and aimed squarely at the top end of the market, Movida is strictly members and guest list only. This club maintains a fun, hedonistic and unpretentious vibe whilst attracting the glitterati in their droves. Lap up the limelight when you order a bottle of Crystal champagne and it is delivered to your booth with a shimmering sparkler. Order a dozen and the DJ will stop the music for you. You’ll be the life of the party and only a couple of thousand pounds poorer. Worth it.

Shochu

Shochu is a Charlotte Street gem - a stylish drinking den located beneath the popular Japanese restaurant, Roka. The talented mixologists have invented zingy cocktails based on the Japanese spirit “Shochu”, varying from infused shots to creative cocktails. Those preferring to graze rather than dine can nibble from the delicious Roka menu. This urban basement constantly has a buzzing atmosphere and is intimate, mysterious and sexy.

Sketch

Sketch is one London's most exciting spots – a gallery by day and a famous and funky bar and restaurant at night. Inflatable furniture, a disorientating staircase scribbled with poetry and crowd-pleasing mirrors define the dining room at Sketch. But for those craving an intoxicating cocktail and a bar to pose at, Sketch’s East Bar is the place to be. The bar is lively – think boobed babes mingling with handsome gents and dressed-up diners digesting their fare. The individual white egg-shaped pod toilets are memorable. Bring a bulging wallet.

what we think

“When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life,” claimed Samuel Johnson, and we couldn’t agree more. At zero degrees longitude, bestriding the Greenwich Meridian, London has always considered itself the epicentre of the world. With more than 7 million people hailing from every corner of the globe, London is a heaving metropolis and a genuine global village - a city of unique boroughs, each as distinct as the colours of the Monopoly board: affluent Chelsea, bohemian Notting Hill, gentrified and eccentric East End. This is where the Queen reigns and where trends in music, fashion, food and the arts are created. It is next to impossible for any other world city to compete with the English capital for energy, passion and pace. London is a city that never sleeps and where dreams are born.
