St Tropez

Less is more ... rather than overwhelming you with volumes of travel tips, here is a specific list of exclusive recommendations with Mr & Mrs Crystal's stamp of approval.

Hotel Byblos

Hotel Byblos is still the reigning address in St Tropez. Built in Provincial style and designed to look like a Mediterranean village, its charming rooms are individually décorated and it is a pure luxury resort. Despite its location a few steps from the main square, it maintains a sense of a relaxing sanctuary. With a Sisley Spa offering treatments designed exclusively for hotel guests and a concierge who will secure reservations at all your selected restaurants and beach clubs, it is hard not to feel utterly spoilt at Hotel Byblos.

Hôtel Le Yaca

There is something très chic about being able to retreat to your hotel in the heart of St Tropez. Le Yaca’s understated elegance praises its romantic roots as the first hotel in St Tropez. The rooms are simply chic and the best chambres face the garden. A charming “secret” garden and intimate sanctuary dominated by lacy ivy and white shutters personifies the calm ambience of central Le Yaca.

Villa La Begude

Even St Tropez party-goers need some respite and Villa La Begude is the perfect haven. At this beautifully restored Provencal villa, there are only a handful of rooms to choose from, all which are extremely cosy and inviting. The phrase “bed and breakfast” does not do justice to this peaceful oasis. Mornings are a highlight as you wake up in your chic, trendy room and wander over to a private sun drenched table by the garden pool for breakfast served by the charming hostess, Daniela. The world seems so blissfully far away.

what we think

It may be a playground for the rich and richer but you don’t have to have a yacht to feel like a V.I.P here. Spend the days soaking up the buzzing atmosphere at one of the many fabulous beach clubs … relaxing in the sunshine on a beach lounge, relishing the perfect taste of a bottle of Provincial rose over a late lunch and dancing to the DJ’s tunes in the afternoon. Wander through the cobble-stone streets in the early evening discovering the designer boutiques and take a front seat at one of the port-side bars for an aperitif and some people-watching. The fun continues into the night with dinner eaten at midnight, followed by a stint at one of the classy nightclubs, or simply a delicious crepe from a street-side stall to accompany you while you walk back to your hotel. Try to get some rest overnight before you start all over again in the morning.
